The reason why people rate products high or low is just because the want to express how they feel about the product. I can tell weather reviews are accurate by looking at the type of product it is and I would have to judge it my self.

The purpose of product reviews is to make sure that there is nothing wrong with the products. After they do that they prepare the products for sale. I do think that this is a good idea to have the consumers put comments online because that determines how many sales that company gets.
